The Eco-Schools Programme encourages pupils to engage with sustainable development and global citizenship issues. Our school has established an Eco-Committee This is made up of pupils, staff, and governors who encourage the involvement of all members of the school community.
Our Eco Green House was recently shortlisted to the top three national finalists in the RCT Homes Community Impact Awards at the Prince’s Trust & Samsung Celebrate Success Awards in Cardiff Millenium Theatre on November 7th. Halfway Eco Committee and Team 154 from Prince’s Trust were presented with a runners up certificate.
It is with great pleasure we can announce that Halfway School has now been awarded a third European Eco Green Flag Award. An assessment was carried out by two external assessors and the school was awarded ‘Grade A’ status.
In May 2012 a meeting was held between the Eco Committee, Mr.Griffiths (Chair of Governors), Mr.Evans (Headteacher), Mr. Morris (PTA Rep) and T&M Landscapes to determine which of the pupils’ garden designs were most suitable for our new Eco Garden development.
